
• The largest parcel on Riverview Boulevard on the Manatee riverfront, and one of the largest open deepwater parcels on the Florida West Coast, has sold for $8.55 million, the highest selling price in the history of northwest Bradenton waterfront properties, according to a press release from Re/Max Alliance Group.
Located on 5.16 acres at 7000 Riverview Blvd., the property has 5,975 square feet in the main house, 1,702 square feet in the second home and 287 feet of direct waterfront with access to Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico.
The main house has five bedrooms, an office and five and a half baths; the second home has two bedrooms and two baths.
The listing agents were Jay Travis and Christy Travis, both of The Waterfront Leaders at Re/Max Alliance Group.
Designed by noted architect Don Roban and built by B.W. Saba Inc., the home features some of the finest domestic and imported resources available, including rare granites, wood mosaic flooring, highly lacquered cabinetry, hand-rubbed cypress wood walls, beamed 20-foot ceilings and massive walls of glass.
The estate incorporates centuries-old oak trees, bridges, waterfalls, walking paths, koi ponds and a diversified selection of native plantings, designed by landscape architect Jim Talley.
• The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce will host its 102nd Annual Membership Meeting on Oct. 21, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Hyatt Regency Sarasota, 1000 Boulevard of the Arts.
The meeting will delve into humor in the workplace as an important leadership tool with keynote speaker, Dr. Kerry Szymanski.
The event will also include the introduction of the 2022-23 chair of the board Emily Walsh, president of Observer Media Group, and the recognition of the Annual Chair’s Cup Award, presented by Kerkering, Barberio & Co.

• Visit Florida announced the recipients of the 2022 Florida Tourism Hall of Fame and Flagler Awards during the annual Florida Governor’s Conference on Tourism, in early September in Boca Raton.
Visit Sarasota County received a bronze award in the category of mobile marketing for its campaign and launch of the Beach Pass Mobile App Program. VSC developed the “Sarasota Beach Pass” on its app in early 2021 to help promote the diversity of beaches around Sarasota County.
The program allows app users to browse, learn about and explore 20 of the area’s beaches. This essential guide allows users to discover the various qualities and amenities the 35-plus-mile coastline offers, and even includes engaging and exclusive prizes.
• PGT Innovations, maker of premium windows and doors, is helping its team members and their dependents pursue their educational goals through its tuition reimbursement program and Inspire the Future scholarship program.
Through these two programs, the manufacturing firm has contributed close to $1.2 million over the past four years.
The tuition reimbursement program was launched in 2018 and is available to eligible PGT Innovations team members across the country. Dependent on grades achieved in the courses, the amount reimbursed to team members can be up to 100% of the cost of education.
Since 2018, 83 team members have utilized the program for degrees in business, accounting, engineering, computer science, human resources, business administration and marketing. Some employees have sought out certifications instead of degrees.
PGT has contributed roughly $800,000 to assist with these endeavors.
PGT’s Inspire the Future scholarship program, provided solely to dependents of employees, offers $2,000 annually toward any secondary education pursuit, including technical school, certification program, university or community college until the education program is complete.
Since that program’s inception in 2018, a total of 205 scholarships have been awarded with a dollar amount of $382,500.
