SAUNDERS WAS SO IMPRESSED, HE AND ZENITH DECIDED TO FEATURE THE SOPHOMORE IN A COMMERCIAL HIGHLIGHTING A WEEK THE LIFE OF A HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL PLAYER. I MADE A BIG PLAY AND I KEPT MY KID BUT IT GOT THE ATTENTION OF THE DAD. THEY KEPT IN TOUCH WITH MY COACH AND YEAH THE THEY JUST SUPPORT FAMILY AND MY FAMILY RIGHT. I PULLED HIM OUT THAT I’M PRETTY GOOD AND HE CONDUCTED HIMSELF IN CONTROL HIS EMOTIONS, PUT THEM BACK IN THE GAME, AND HE MADE THE GAME SAVING PLAY. IT JUST GOES TO SHOW THAT CHARACTER IS ALL ABOUT AND CONTROLLING YOURSELF. THIS YOUNG MAN FROM THE FIFTH GRADE IS SAYING, I’M PLAYING FOOTBALL. Already, the young man is making big waves.A defensive back for the Greenville High School Red Raiders, Henderson is the face of a new national commercial by Xenith, a Detroit-based manufacturer of football helmets and equipment.”Not only does it set the standard for me,” said Henderson, about the commercial, which aired this week for the first time on Xenith’s social media channels. “It’s also for Greenville High School and all the schools in Greenville County.”Henderson’s composure, following an error during a national 7on7 football tournament earlier this year, caught the eye of Xenith CEO Tony Saunders, who approached Henderson after the game.”He missed an assignment, so I pulled him out and yelled at him pretty good,” said Kevin Washington, Henderson’s trainer and 7on7 coaching. “He controlled himself. We didn’t know at the time, Tony was looking, and watching the whole time. We put Christian back in the game, and he conducted himself, controlled his emotion, and made the game-saving play. I think that goes back to how he was raised, and goes to show it’s all about character and controlling yourself.”Henderson broke his arm during the Red Raiders game against Byrnes, but is already preparing for his return to the field next fall.”You’re gonna see a dog,” said Washington. “He’s gonna make plays. Quarterbacks beware, please throw it to his side, and you’ll see what’s gonna happen.”
