A Tewantin home in need of a desperate makeover has transformed into a spectacular piece of art, thanks to a local construction company.
For some, the house should have been demolished, however, hiring the right builder turned the house from an ugly duck to a beautiful swan.
When their team took on the project, Silk Design and Construct owners Cheay Silk and Daniela Silk knew it was going to be a fun challenge.
“As a professional building company, we knew we had the experience and artistic flair that would turn the house into a spectacular home that would delight the owners and stamp our brand on the Sunshine Coast,“ project admin Daniela said.
“After completing the home, we realised that we had reinvented an authentic and stylish coastal/colonial home.“
The local family business moved from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast in 2012, and have been accomplishing great new builds and renovations throughout the coastline and hinterlands ever since.
“Back in the day, while working in Brisbane, we started getting phone calls about our services mainly requested in the Noosa region because of the modern/coastal style of the houses we completed in Paddington, Bulimba, and other Brisbane areas,“ Daniela said.
“It was then when we decided to move the business up here and started touching base with the real estate agents as a small builder.
“This was simply amazing because since 2012 we have seen the region grow and dealt with great people. We are so lucky to be in an amazing location.“
Owners of the Tewantin Crank Street project, Steve and Vivien James, said they were ecstatic about their renovation.
“Silk Design and Construct really excel when it comes to delivering spectacular results in renovation/remodeling and extending Queenslander style homes,“ Vivien said.
“Every part of this project was simply amazing, every corner, ceiling, roofline, and feature wall were professionally thought out to the absolute full detail.“
The house has been in their family for generations and was in need of a desperate makeover.
Project director Cheay said the home needed asbestos removal, kitchen extension, maximising the bedroom and bathrooms spaces and quantities, and also creating an idyllic pool area including a stylish pool house.
“We can happily say we brought the charm and elegance back to the house with special details such as arches, cornices, feature timber bay windows, and doors all inspired by Vivian and Stev, with Hampton French Provincial sophisticated touches,“ Cheay said.
Silk Design and Construct is an Australian family business supporting the local community through hiring local staff, trades and suppliers.
“If the customer wants a specific building request, we go the extra mile to find it as well as the tradesperson to fulfil their dream,“ Cheay said.
“We are always looking for ways to improve our professionalism and internal procedures to give our customers the best value for their investment.“
Daniela said the team was now offering new services.
“We now offer maintenance work based on an hourly rate for owners who have a project that they want to be completed in stages,“ she said.
“We’re also offering consultancy services for those who want to purchase a property. We attend the open home with the customer, discuss any needed renovations, and provide a written report detailing costs applicable.“
