Calling out the ad commercial in her recent Instagram stories, Lakshmi wrote, “Disgusting. It is beyond appalling to see such ads getting a green light. Who are we trying to police here? When people in all sectors are just so twisted that they portray women and objectify them!”

For the unversed, the controversial ad sparked a huge controversy, earning backlash from various quarters for promoting “rape culture”. Social media users have criticized the brand and the advertisers for showing women in a ‘tough spot’, due to the fear of getting sexually assaulted or harassed by a bunch of men in the ad.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has asked the social media platforms, Youtube and Twitter to remove the controversial body spray ad. The action came after the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) flagged the ad as a “serious breach” in their code and is against the public interest.
Notably, Lakshmi’s latest social media post is about promoting a hair styling product and she replied, “there are tons of videos on YouTube” to a netizen asking for a ‘detailed video’ on using the product.
On the TV front, Lakshmi Manchu was last seen judging the TV reality show Aata Juniors hosted by Ravi. She hosted chat shows like Memu Saitham and others.
