Thomas Frank has made an impressive start to life as Spurs manager since arriving from Brentford in the summer to replace Europa League-winning boss Ange Postecoglou.

His side sit third in the table, just two points behind leaders Arsenal in a tightly packed top five separated by only three points.

A hard-fought victory at Leeds before the international break extended Tottenham’s unbeaten run to seven matches in all competitions — a spell that includes four points from their opening two Champions League fixtures.

However, they’ve drawn three of their last four games against Premier League opponents and have managed just one win from their three home league matches so far, something they’ll be keen to improve this weekend.

Aston Villa, meanwhile, have turned their season around after a sluggish start that saw them go winless in their first five games — and scoreless in the opening four. Unai Emery’s side have since hit form with four straight victories before the break, including two wins apiece in the Premier League and Europa League, giving them a perfect start to their European campaign.

That run has lifted Villa to 13th in the table after languishing in the relegation zone only three weeks ago. Despite their early struggles, they now sit just three points outside the top six and will fancy their chances against a side they’ve beaten in their last two meetings.

Villa have also won on two of their last three visits to the north London Stadium, and Emery boasts a strong record against Frank, remaining unbeaten in their five managerial encounters to date.

Spurs appear to be the more settled of the two teams into the new season and will be looking to pick up their home form as they bid to maintain their push towards the top of the Premier League table and a 2-1 home win seems the most likely.
