
COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. – A Cottage Grove woman was arrested on Sunday afternoon in connection with a mobile home fire and is now facing arson charges, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.
LCSO officials said that deputies responded at about 3 p.m. on Oct. 19 to assist fire crews with a mobile home fire on Shoreview Drive, east of Cottage Grove. The home was confirmed empty, and witnesses noted that a resident, identified as 38-year-old Leia Kimberly Shaw, left shortly before the fire, deputies said. While searching for Shaw, deputies received reports of a vehicle fire at Bake Stewart Park. Shaw was found nearby.
Following an investigation by the Fire Marshal and deputies, Shaw was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree arson. Lane County Jail records show that she is in custody as of Oct. 20.
South Lane Fire & Rescue assisted in handling the situation.
