Manchester City team news vs Aston Villa in Premier League clash as Pep Guardiola’s side seek to extend their unbeaten run.
Manchester City head to Aston Villa on Sunday looking to continue their recent momentum that has catapulted them right back into the title race.
The Blues are nine games unbeaten in all competitions and cruised past Villarreal in midweek in the Champions League. Pep Guardiola shuffled his pack somewhat in Spain but will likely revert to type for the trip to the Midlands.
Gianluigi Donnarumma will continue in goal while Nico O’Reilly can come back in at left back given Josko Gvardiol was unconvincing in that position against Villarreal in midweek. The Croat can move inside and partner Ruben Dias with John Stones dropping out. Matheus Nunes was praised by Pep Guardiola in the build-up to this game and is set to retain his place at right back.
City will make a late call on the fitness of Nico Gonzalez but with Mateo Kovacic having returned to action, starting the Croatia international might be the best course of action. Tijjani Reijnders was rested in midweek but has started every Premier League game so far this season and can come back in.
Savinho impressed in midweek and can keep his place with Jeremy Doku and Phil Foden completing the attacking line behind the seemingly unstoppable Erling Haaland.
City will be without Rodri and Abdukodir Khusanov through injury while Rayan Ait-Nouri may be involved in the squad but is not yet fit enough to start.
