ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Red Cross is helping two adults and two children after their home on South Clinton Avenue near Averill Avenue caught fire on Thursday.
The Rochester Fire Department arrived just before 5 a.m. and saw heavy smoke and flames at the two-story duplex. Firefighters helped the family of four as they were exiting the lower apartment.
RFD says crews battled the fire from the inside and called a second alarm because strong winds were intensifying the fire. It took crews about 30 minutes to control the fire. They remained on the scene to put out hot spots.
RFD says no one was injured in the fire and the cause remains under investigation. News10NBC took this photo of the damage to the house in the daylight:
