Emiliano Buendia’s recent Aston Villa performances could see him rewarded with a new contract with his current deal set to expire end of next season.
Over the summer, sources told Football Insider that Buendia could leave Aston Villa after he became surplus to requirements under Unai Emery.
It looked probable that Aston Villa would sell Buendia for PSR reasons as they desperately look to raise funds for new additions in the upcoming transfer windows after a relatively quiet summer.
Yet, his resurgence in form could see Aston Villa make a U-turn on selling Buendia with contract talks possibly in the offing and an extension to his deal expiring in 18 months.

The Villains were locked in a tense affair, yet ultimately prevailed as 4-0 victors to delight the home crowd.
Buendia was on the scoresheet as well, taking three shots and converting one thanks to a superb free-kick goal that stunned Djordje Petrovic.

Indeed, he may not be a first name on the team sheet for Lionel Scaloni, but at least making the squad again would be an honour and testament to the winger’s hard work.
Moreover, with the 2026 World Cup fast approaching, the former Canary will be keen to ramp up his displays under Emery to impress his national team boss.
