Big game in WSL2 promotion racepublished at 15:47 GMT 22 March
Image source, Getty ImagesLeicester aren’t the only side doing all they can to avoid the relegation/ promotion play-off. The same goes for both Crystal Palace and Newcastle in WSL2 – albeit for very different reasons.
They find themselves third and fourth, respectively, in the table with Palace just a point behind Birmingham in the second automatic promotion spot, and Newcastle a further point back.
With leaders Charlton now nine points clear, it look like a three-way battle for second with one team having to settle for the play-off place and the other missing out completely.
Palace host Newcastle at 17:00 GMT today, and with all four games remaining after this one, it is a match that could go a long way to deciding the final outcome in this incredibly tight promotion battle.
Newcastle should be confident having beaten Birmingham 2-0 in midweek.
