Aston Villa tie down Morgan Rogers to new contract

Aston Villa have received a massive boost with midfielder Morgan Rogers agreeing to a new contract that will extend his stay at Villa Park by a further year (h/t David Ornstein).

The Aston Villa playmaker will also ‘handsomely improve his salary’. He reportedly earns £93,750 per week.

The 23-year-old’s previous deal ran until June 2030. However, he will now remain tied to the Birmingham-based club until 2031.

The new terms reflect his rapid rise under Villa boss Unai Emery and place him among the highest earners in the squad.

Rogers’ extension marks another key step in Villa’s ongoing effort to secure the futures of their most valuable assets.

The Villains recently renewed contracts for John McGinn, Matty Cash, Lucas Digne and Boubacar Kamara.

Rogers’ development since joining from Middlesbrough in February 2024 has been remarkable.

The West Bromwich Albion and Manchester City academy starlet has become a vital component in Emery’s system.

His combination of drive, flair, and composure in midfield has earned him regular call-ups under England boss Thomas Tuchel.

The negotiations concluded smoothly thanks to the strong relationship between Villa’s director of football operations, Damian Vidagany, and Rogers’ representative, Sam Kohansal.

Co-owner Nassef Sawiris was also personally involved in ensuring the 2025 PFA Young Player of the Year remained in Birmingham.

This new deal is expected to keep Rogers at the club beyond this summer, but it may not stop Europe’s elite from circling.

Chelsea and Liverpool are reportedly interested in services, and while the new deal may deter them, the Premier League giants will likely return for his signature.

The new deal will ensure that when they do come, the Villans will have some leverage.

He may eventually depart, but, for now, Villa can celebrate securing one of English football’s most exciting young talents for the long term.
