Matty Cash has signed a new four-year deal with Aston Villa.
The Athletic reported on October 21 that the 28-year-old, whose previous terms were set to expire in 2027, had reached an agreement in principle over a new contract, which also has the option to be extended by a further 12 months.
That extension has now been confirmed, with the Poland international set to stay at Villa Park until 2029.

Cash came through Nottingham Forest’s academy and made 141 appearances for the side’s first team before joining Villa in September 2020.
In his five seasons with the club, the right-back has made 193 appearances for Villa, scoring 12 goals and providing 12 assists.
This season, Cash has made 13 appearances in all competitions and has had key contributions to recent victories. He provided an exquisite long pass to Lucas Digne, which led to Emiliano Buendia’s winner on October 19, and scored the only goal in the 1-0 victory over Manchester City on Sunday. These contributions have helped him win consecutive player of the match awards.
Villa have won their last four Premier League games, and sit in eighth place. They are next in action against Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.
‘Cash is integral to Villa’s plans’
Analysis by Aston Villa correspondent Jacob Tanswell
Cash has surpassed five years at Villa and has been a reliable performer at the club, with Unai Emery a firm advocate of his qualities.
Playing as an inverted right-back, which means he has to form a back three in possession and limits his attacking qualities, the 28-year-old has had to learn Emery’s remit, but has become trusted by the Spaniard in big matches.
While there was interest from AC Milan last summer, Emery wanted Cash to stay and remain his first-choice right-back.
The former Nottingham Forest defender has now entered into the final two years of his current contract, so an extension makes sense for someone who is still integral to Villa’s plans.
