Ban on Tel Aviv football fans coming to Villa Park is not the British way and must be overturned

When West Midlands Police decided to ban Maccabi Tel Aviv fans from the match against Aston Villa they united almost everyone else in fury.

Sir Keir Starmer condemned it and ordered them to think again. Kemi Badenoch called it a ‘national disgrace’. Nigel Farage said it “takes racial discrimination to a whole new level”.

The only people who seemed pleased with the police were the so-called Gaza-independents and various local extremists and left-wing nutters.

Being in the same boat as that bunch must surely  make Chief Constable Craig Guildford think twice.

Maybe he’s the man who put the PC into policing. His coppers once tried to do me for one of those ridiculous so-called ‘Non-Crime Hate Incidents’ after I called Hamas an ‘Islamist death cult of rapist and murderers’.

No wonder there’s not much help when you’re burgled or your car gets nicked.

Jeremy Corbyn and local MP Ayoub Khan launched a petition demanding the match be called off because of what’s happening in Gaza.

Another local councillor Waseem Zaffar – who sits on the committee that signed off on the ban – called for a boycott.

And a crazy local cleric issued an “Islamic ruling” saying ‘When the Tel Aviv fans come to Birmingham in a few weeks, we will not show them rahma [mercy].’

Has he been investigated?

Public safety is the most important thing. The police and the clubs must keep troublemakers away so the match can go ahead as normal.

Then decent proper fans like me can enjoy the game.

But let’s be honest – this isn’t about football.

It is about the sort of country we want to live in.

Extremist nutters have already run teachers out of schools in fear of their lives.

Families and shoppers scared away from city centres with hate marches every week.

Jewish people abused, threatened and attacked by racists. Synagogues desecrated and businesses smashed up by terrorists.

And now we’re being told who can come to the football.

When do we say enough?

This is not the British way and we shouldn’t stand it for any more.

Crack down on the extremists spreading poison.

Kick out foreign agitators who have no right to be here.

Fire public sector officials who sympathise with Hamas or hate Jews.
