One former Aston Villa star believes they will reach their maximum potential after leaving the club during the summer.
Despite Aston Villa having an impressive 2024-25 campaign, Unai Emery didn’t retain every player who was in their squad.
Some of those were his own decisions, others were made by the players themselves, and those choices have had mixed results for the individuals and the club.
While some have gone on to thrive away from Villa Park, others have struggled. But one international star is confident they will become a better player now.

Marcus Rashford believes he’ll reach his ‘maximum potential’ at Barcelona
Marcus Rashford joined Aston Villa for the second half of last season on loan in a bid to rediscover his form after falling out with Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim.
While he showed glimpses of his quality, he didn’t quite return to the Rashford that fans know from the past. However, this season’s loan move to Barcelona appears to be delivering that quality once again.
Rashford is aware of this, as he explained to ITV Sport that he believes the loan move will bring out the best in him as a player.
“Yeah, for sure. It’s obviously still early days. But yeah, I think when I do reach, you know, my maximum potential, it’ll be the best version of me that’s a happier player.
“Yeah, for sure. But I just think it will be the best version of myself that I’ve ever seen.”
His performances this season have seen Rashford gain rave reviews from fans and pundits alike, with Rio Ferdinand claiming he’s “reborn again” at Barcelona.
Rashford has also become a regular within the Three Lions setup again too, with Thomas Tuchel regularly picking and playing him for England since he took charge of the nation.
Despite Rashford believing that he will produce his best work at Barcelona, he still has a place in his heart for Aston Villa.
Rashford helped Jadon Sancho join the club during the summer transfer window after he spoke to his former Manchester United teammate about his time at Villa Park.
Marcus Rashford believes the Barcelona move is ‘really good’ for himself
While there might still be question marks over Rashford in some areas of the media, he believes that the move to Spain is the one to benefit him.
“I feel it’s a team that’s really good for me, and I think I can help them a lot. So, I think it’s a really, really good move and I’m just really positive about the future.”
The winger hasn’t taken long to adapt to life in Spain either, already contributing eight goal contributions this season across all competitions.

TBR Football has revealed that Rashford wants to remain at Barcelona beyond this season, and despite his impressive performances, Manchester United also do not want him back.
However, given how the move has benefited him personally, the England international is likely to be excited about the idea of remaining in La Liga.
