Harvey Elliott ‘not happy’ after Aston Villa transfer as claim made over training performance

After joining Aston Villa on loan from Liverpool, Harvey Elliott has struggled for minutes so far this season
Harvey Elliott is said to be “not happy” with his current situation at Aston Villa after finding himself out of contention.
The midfielder made the move from Liverpool to Villa Park in the summer on an initial loan deal. Given Elliott’s talent, his performances for the Reds and in the England youth set-up, there was excitement about what he could add to Unai Emery’s side.
But so far, the transfer has been a nightmare. Elliott has started just one Premier League game for Villa and has played a meagre 98 minutes in the top flight.
It has been widely reported that Villa’s loan deal for Elliott will become permanent for a fee of £35 million once he makes 10 appearances for the club. As such, the player’s absence from various recent squads has been used to fuel speculation that he is not wanted in the long term at Villa Park.
Writing for Give Me Sport , transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano offered some insight into the player’s current predicament.
“At the moment, it depends on his performances in training,” Romano claimed. “The situation is still not changing and, of course, Elliott is not happy.”
Now 22 years old, Elliott would’ve viewed the move to the Midlands as a chance to ignite his career after being a rotation option at Liverpool.
After a tough start, Villa have managed to find some form again in recent weeks. They are up to sixth in the Premier League table after Sunday’s superb 4-0 win over AFC Bournemouth.
Elliott faces a number of rivals for a starting spot in the squad too, most notably Emi Buendía.
The Argentina international has enjoyed a brilliant start to the campaign after being linked with an exit in the summer, while Morgan Rogers, Ross Barkley, Youri Tielemans, Donyell Malen and John McGinn are also options in the advanced midfield roles.
