
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The American Red Cross of Southern Nevada is providing emergency assistance to 21 people who were displaced by a Las Vegas condominium fire late Saturday night.
The fire broke out around 11 p.m. on Saturday in the attic and roof of a 16-unit condominium building at Meadows Condominiums, located at 230 Mission Catalina Lane near Decatur Boulevard and Alta Drive.
Fire crews were able to contain the fire however, all of the units were evacuated due to safety concerns as the fire caused significant water and smoke damage throughout the building, according to the Red Cross. Power was shut off to all 16 units as well.
Red Cross volunteers were called to the scene around 2 a.m. Sunday to help those who were displaced. In total, the Red Cross provided support to 10 families, totaling 21 people, including shelter and resources to meet their basic needs.
Two of the units were unoccupied.
Mental health and spiritual care services were also available to help residents cope with the emotional toll of the disaster.
This was the second Las Vegas fire that Red Cross volunteers responded to Saturday. The first occurred at an apartment around 7 p.m. in the 1400 block of Vegas Valley Drive near Maryland Parkway.

Red Cross volunteers and Clark County Animal Control were requested to assist four people who were displaced by the fire and one dog. One person died in the fire, according to the Clark County Fire Department.
