- Douglas Elliman Real Estate plans a Nov. 4 photo and video shoot at both sites.
- The production is expected to include a still photographer, video camera and a crew of eight.
- All commercial still photography and videography projects must be approved by the Town Council.
The Palm Beach Town Council granted approval for a Worth Avenue photo shoot following assurances that it wouldn’t disrupt traffic or cause congestion.
During its meeting Oct. 14, council members unanimously voted in favor of permitting the Nov. 4 shoot in Midtown.
The permit will allow Douglas Elliman Real Estate to shoot still photography images from 6 to 8 a.m. at the clock tower on Worth Avenue and along Worth Avenue itself, town records show.
The production will feature one video camera, a still photographer, and a crew of eight, Paul Schweibinz, president of Compass Marketing and a representative for Douglas Elliman, told the council.
No special parking or equipment would be required, and roads and sidewalks in the area would not need to be closed, he added.
“You have an 8 a.m. cutoff for photography,” he said. “We’re well aware of that, so we’ll be done by then. We don’t need any special parking. We’re a very small crew. We’re going to be in and out because we have many other shots in the region. There are no special needs of any staff or police or blocking of the roadway. We won’t impede pedestrian traffic or vehicular traffic in any way.”
In a letter submitted to the council prior to its meeting, Schweibinz said the shoot would be rescheduled for the next two mornings in case of bad weather.
At the meeting, however, he told council members the shoot would proceed “come rain or come shine,” making the extra two days unnecessary.
“Our schedule has filled up for the remaining days,” he said.
Schweibinz said the crew would likely begin filming on Worth Avenue early to capture footage before the area gets busy, then move to the clock tower.
“I think it’s advantageous to the town if we shoot Worth first and then the clock tower,” he said. “That’s the goal.”
Council member Julie Araskog raised concerns that the photo shoot could interfere with early-morning, weekday traffic on Worth Avenue, but she acknowledged the small crew would minimize any impact.
“It’s such a small group, so it would be OK,” she said. “One video camera and one still camera don’t bother me at all. I don’t think they’re going to be noisy.”
The council’s unanimous approval of the permit comes after a June permit granted to Rebl House Media for a still photography shoot featuring models in Tribal Fashion clothing.
The one-day shoot June 18 also was held at the Worth Avenue clock tower, along Worth Avenue, and at Midtown Beach.
Town rules mandate that commercial still photography and videography projects must be approved by the town council.
