National property consultancy Carter Jonas has restructured its planning and development division, making a raft of senior promotions.

Under the leadership of Colin Brown, the division now comprises four business units – planning consultancy, development consultancy, development agency, and masterplanning and urban design.

Heading up the planning consultancy is Katy Davis, who had led the firm’s planning team in London for several years having joined Carter Jonas in 2014.

Jon Pinkerton, also in London, is now head of development consultancy after six years with the firm.

James Cordery is head of development agency, having started with Carter Jonas as a graduate surveyor in 2013 and specialising in strategic and immediate development land opportunities across the public and private sectors.

Finally, Jonny Clayton will continue in his role as head of masterplanning and urban design, with a focus on bolstering the firm’s presence in the strategic land and regeneration sectors.

Brown and the four unit leaders will sit on a newly restructured planning and development board, overseeing the division’s progress and success of the new model.

“The creation of these new business units will enhance operational efficiency, promote resource sharing and generate exciting new opportunities for our team and the wider business,” said Brown.

“Our clients will benefit from a comprehensive service that combines local market intelligence with our proven national capabilities.”

Meanwhile, Huw Mellor at Carter Jonas’s Oxford office is to take over as head of planning South from Steven Sensecall, who has retired from his role as a partner but remains with the business as a consultant.

James Cordery will, alongside his national role, also lead development South, working out of Oxford, Bristol and Winchester.

In Cambridge, Paul Belton has been promoted to head of planning and development East. He will work closely with Dominic Bryant, the newly appointed partner leading the region’s development land team.
