J.P. Weigand sells residential real estate division

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – J.P. Weigand & Sons, a formidable name in the Wichita real estate market, announced plans to sell its residential real estate division to Berkshire Hathaway.

The company said the move will allow Weigand to focus on its commercial and auction services and allow its residential agents to evolve at a faster rate with Berkshire Hathaway. Weigand & Sons was founded in 1902.

“This decision to evolve and focus our resources on the commercial market services did not come lightly,” Weigand president Kevin Dreiling said. “After careful consideration, we felt that we could best serve our employees and associates with a refocused attention on the commercial markets moving forward.”

As part of this divestment, J.P. Weigand & Sons’ residential operations will be integrated into the Berkshire Hathaway brand. The Weigand commercial division will continue operating independently.
