Shoppers across Georgia are being urged to check their refrigerators after a recall involving cottage cheese sold at Walmart stores in the state.
According to the FDA, certain Great Value brand cottage cheese products distributed to Walmart locations in 24 states, including Georgia, are being voluntarily recalled.
Here’s what to know.
What products are included?
The recall involves Great Value fat free, low-fat and 4% milkfat cottage cheese containers.

The affected products carry expiration dates between April 1 and April 3, 2026. Customers who purchased cottage cheese with those dates are advised to avoid consuming it and follow store guidance for returns or disposal.
The recall was issued by Saputo Cheese USA Inc., which said some of the dairy products may not have been fully pasteurized.
Why does pasteurization matter?
The Atlanta-based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says pasteurization is a heating process that kills harmful germs in milk and other dairy products.
When dairy is not fully pasteurized, it can pose serious health risks. According to the CDC, consuming raw or under-pasteurized dairy products can expose people to bacteria such as E. coli and salmonella.
Have any illnesses been reported?
At this time, no illnesses or hospitalizations have been reported in connection with the recalled products.
Consumers who believe they may have purchased the affected cottage cheese are encouraged to check the expiration date on the container and contact the retailer for more information.
