Larch Cottage Nurseries, in Melkinthorpe, Penrith, posted on social media that they have suffered a “suspected arson attack”.
The incident took place at 3:05am on Wednesday, October 15, when the original potting shed was burned to the ground. Cumbria Police confirmed they are undertaking enquiries.

A spokesperson for the Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service said: “Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service was called out at 3.05am today (October 15) to a fire involving an outbuilding of a commercial property on the access road to Melkinthorpe from the C3046.
“Fire engines from Lazonby and Penrith fire stations attended and firefighters used breathing apparatus and hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.
“Crews were in attendance for about one hour 45 minutes.”
The shed that was targeted is no longer used for the business, and is not accessible to the public. However it was used by the owners children as their sheep shed and storage for their bikes and toys.
A spokesperson for Larch Cottage said: “We do not condone what took place. What happened is really sad and is such a sad way to conclude our 40th year.
“We just want to stress that luckily the fire wasn’t in a public area as it was the original potting shed and a static caravan that were affected. We are thankful that no one was in the caravan.
“We would like to thank the fire brigade and especially our neighbours for their swift action last night.
“Peter (Holt), the owner, is upset that the potting shed where everything began has gone, especially as it is our 40th year.”

A spokesperson for Cumbria Police said: “From our point of view, the incident is being treated as a suspected arson at this time. Enquiries are being carried out.”
Larch Cottage stressed that they are still open for business, and are appealing for any information.
The spokesperson added: “If anyone has any information, we would be very grateful if they would come forward.”
