Minneapolis expands affordable housing with new builds

Two former single-family lots in will soon have new structures built on them, funded, in part, by the ‘s new tax levy, according to a recent press release from the agency.

The two structures will be in the Windom and Regina neighborhoods, according to the press release, and both will be owned by MPHA. The Windom property will be a , which will have two four-bedroom units and one two-bedroom units, while Regina will enjoy a new with a four- and two-bedroom unit.

The groundbreaking on the projects was held Wednesday and is expected to wrap up within a year.

“Coupling MPHA’s federal resources with local funding and the nation-leading 2040 Plan, MPHA continues to add the deeply affordable family housing our city needs,” MPHA Executive Director said. “MPHA continues to take former single-family homes and transform them into homes for multiple families in buildings that fit the character of the neighborhoods they are in.”
