This Decadent Cottage Cheese Is the “Absolute Best”, According to Chefs (If You See It in Stock, Grab 2!)

If there’s one grocery that’s had a major comeback (again), it’s cottage cheese. There are seemingly endless ways to enjoy the creamy curds. It is a great high-protein substitute for ricotta in a lasagna and makes an ultra-creamy cheesecake. You know who else loves cottage cheese? Chefs.
We asked a handful of chefs which cottage cheese tubs they keep stocked in their refrigerators. The unanimous love? Good Culture Organic Whole Milk Cottage Cheese. Here’s why.

The Best Cottage Cheese Brand, According to Chefs
“Good Culture, full fat baby!” That’s exactly what Catherine Jessee, a former line cook and current recipe developer, said when I asked her to name the best cottage cheese. She’s got such “a soft spot for [the] creamy curds.” It tastes great in recipes and straight from the tub. (It also was the unanimous winner in our taste test).
I’ve been asking chefs to recommend chocolate chip cookie dough, chicken noodle soup, peanut butter, you name it. I’ve never had such an excited or swift response as the one from Stacey Mei Yan Fong, cookbook author of 50 Pies, 50 States: An Immigrant’s Love Letter to the United States Through Pie. She said, and I quote, “it’s Good Culture or bust.” That’s not all she said, of course …
Mei Yan Fong was a “straight up cottage cheese hater” before tasting “the thick luscious curds of Good Culture cottage cheese.” We get it! The only issue? She can hardly find it in stock at grocery stores these days.
I should’ve known that it would be Good Culture. It’s also my family’s favorite cottage cheese. My aunt is the chef and owner of Peppermint, in Royal Palm Beach, Florida. Ever since my dad (who is also a chef) put her on to this high-protein ingredient, she’s been putting it on toasts and blending it into dips, pretty much nonstop.
