
Honolulu firefighters battled a fire that broke out in Makaha this morning, sending one woman to the hospital.
The Honolulu Fire Department responded to a call at 8:53 a.m. for a fire at 84-680 Kili Drive in Makaha.
Eleven units with 40 personnel responded, with the first arriving on scene within minutes to find a high-rise residential building with flames and smoke coming from a 16th-floor unit.
Honolulu Emergency Medical Services also responded to the scene and treated the occupant — a woman estimated to be in her 60s — for serious burns and smoke inhalation.
Paramedics treated her and took her to a hospital emergency room in serious condition.
HFD said the fire was brought under control at 9:30 a.m. and extinguished at 10:44 a.m.

Social media posts show heavy smoke billowing from an upper-floor condo at Makaha Valley Towers Home, which is located on Kili Drive.
No other injuries were reported.
An investigation is underway to determine the fire’s cause and origin, along with estimated damages.
