Home Prices Are Still Climbing in the U.S.
January marked the 10th consecutive month of home prices rising across the U.S., according to the latest Home Price Index from First American. House prices increased 0.3% from December to January and jumped 7.2% year over year, which is a slight decline from December’s 7.7% annual increase. December’s peak was driven by buyers taking advantage of decreased mortgage rates, said First American’s chief economist Mark Fleming, and the rate of appreciation is likely to slow in the coming months.
