Team from Russen & Turner in King’s Lynn will be running Grand East Anglia Run (GEAR) for good cause
A team of 10 from Russen & Turner estate agents in King’s Lynn will be tackling the Grand East Anglia Run (GEAR) this weekend.
The 10K run, which follows a route around King’s Lynn town centre, takes place on Sunday (May 5).
The team of runners has set up a fundraising page at website www.justgiving.com where they said: “Ten of us from Russen and Turner King’s Lynn have been lacing up our running shoes for a cause close to our hearts.
“On May 5, we’re hitting the pavement for the 10K GEAR run, rallying support for the Norfolk Community Health and Care (NCH&C) NHS Trust.
“They provided invaluable support to a dear friend and their family during challenging times. Their dedication and care made a world of difference when it mattered most.

“As we prepare for the 10K, our team has been putting in the miles on the track every Wednesday night for interval training sessions. Rain or shine, you’ll find us there.
“The NCH&C NHS Trust is at the forefront of providing essential healthcare services to our community. From delivering outstanding primary care to offering specialised services, they are committed to enhancing the health and well-being of individuals and families across Norfolk.
“Whether it’s through community nursing, therapy services, or supporting those with long-term conditions, the trust’s impact is profound and far-reaching.
“By participating in the 10K GEAR run, we aim to raise vital funds to support the incredible work of the NCH&C NHS Trust.
“Every step we take and every donation we receive will directly contribute to ensuring that they can continue to provide compassionate care and support to those in need.
“Your generosity will of course spur us on during the run but will also help the NCH&C NHS Trust continue their essential work, touching the lives of countless individuals within our community.

A Norfolk estate agent is launching a year-long charity pledge to coincide with its 30th anniversary.
Sowerby’s – which has branches in Lynn, Hunstanton and Fakenham – is celebrating entering its fourth decade in business by pledging to try and make a positive impact on the community, and pledging to make a charitable donation for every house that is sold.
A total of five charities have been selected by the firm. Sellers will choose which charity they would like to receive the donation after the successful sale of their home.
The chosen charities are Nelson’s Journey, St Martins Housing Trust, The Big C, Mind Norfolk and Waveney and East Anglian Air Ambulance.
The initiative will be rolled out across its nine Norfolk branches, including those in Lynn, Hunstanton, Fakenham and Burnham Market.

Its two managing directors have said they want to “give back to the communities” which have supported them throughout the decades to mark its 30th year.
Lloyd Sandy said: “We are thrilled to launch this year-long charity initiative.
“Celebrating and being a part of the local community has always been at the core of our business ethos, from a team of local property specialists found on the high street to promoting other independent businesses and community spirit.”
Max Sowerby said: “In 2024 Sowerby’s celebrates its 30th birthday. From opening in Burnham Market to nine offices across the county, each full of property specialists passionate about the homes, local area and people they work with is a wonderful achievement for the whole business.
“To mark our 30th year we want to give back to the communities which have supported us through the decades, involving our clients in the donation-making process.”
Mr Sandy added: “This approach emphasises the company’s commitment to community engagement and allows clients to actively participate in giving back to vital charities in the local area.”
Staff from Sowerby’s will also engage with charities throughout the year and take part in fundraising activities.

The company says it is committed to promoting these charitable endeavours through its digital platforms, website, and other communication channels.
Mr Sandy said: “The goal is to create a meaningful connection between the company, our clients, and the community organisations which play a crucial role in the region.”
The first homes have been finished on a new affordable development.
People will soon be able to move into 15 of the one, two and three-bed properties being built near Lynnsport in King’s Lynn.
Some 78 will be built off Salters Road, under a partnership between West Norfolk council, its development partner Lovell and Freebridge Community Housing.
All will be either available at an affordable rent, or available to buy through shared ownership.
Alistair Beales, the council’s cabinet member for business, said: “We know there is a high level of need for affordable homes across the country and west Norfolk is no exception.

“We have committed, through our corporate strategy, to encouraging housing development that meets local needs so it’s great to see the first of the new homes in an all-affordable development ready for occupation.”
Paul Newbold, director of new homes and commercial at Freebridge, said: “We’re delighted that this much-needed project has now reached the stage that we are able to advertise the first homes at Salters Road.
“We appreciate the urgent need for affordable housing in a central location in King’s Lynn and, in partnership with the council and Lovell, we are very pleased to have been able to help deliver this excellent development.
“We’re looking forward to meeting our first tenants moving into these properties and are happy that the next wave of properties will be advertised in early 2024.”
Michael Saunders, operations manager for Lovell, added: “It’s always really satisfying to reach the point on a development when people can move in so I am delighted we have been able to reach that point on programme.
“I hope the residents are very happy in their new homes and look forward to handing over the remaining phases in the coming months.”
The next homes are expected to be ready for occupation in March and the development should be fully completed by October.”
